Myth has it that Old Man Lee upon hearing he was to be a prime-candidate for chemotherapy for a tumor in his brain, considered leaving a record of the whole harvesting operation after his suicide.

My employers found him unconscious, a bone saw in his hand, and most of the top portion of his skull cut away.

I think he wishes he would have blown his brains out now rather than trying to remove the tumor himself.

Rumor has it the tumor had crowded out a sizable portion of his brain already, and what we see here is the last act of an insane man.

After they soldered the last neural interface and flipped the switch to become the world’s first human Web address, he realized just how serious my employers were about privacy issues.

Things happen, you know. With or without us. And all we’re left with is the wreckage.

About

hopelessly human // delightfully obscure // proudly Punk // hand-crafted melodic sound.

that clean, sterile, clinical, stainless-steel, post-scarcity hyper-produced first-world late stage techtopia future doesn't exist here.

Organic sensibility revealed through greasy mechanical expression; metastasized and inflamed by discrete digital discipline.

An aggressively personal, expressively experimental, post-industrial experience.

Boston musician.

The Machine Feeds on Our Memories to Survive

a lone piano encircled by industry and algorithms

increasingly beset on all sides by the forces of Industry and Algorithms, KIDNEYS OPTIONAL prefers the post-social obscurity of living off the digital grid.

whether exploring the photographic medium through their pictures, playing blues ballads on a piano or pushing faders behind a mix desk; their preoccupation with the authenticity of the medium means they like things dirty, messy, distorted and characterful.

the music of KIDNEYS OPTIONAL draws on influences ranging from jazz and post-minimalism to old-school electro-industrial and post-rock.

I want to be a dataset: harvested, mined and plundered.

kidneys are optional.
